The Divine 9

The Divine Nine is a group of nine historically African American fraternities and sororities. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a notable member. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority: Founded in 1908 at Howard University, this was the first Black sorority of its kind. Notable members include Ava DuVernay, Donda West, and Phylicia Rashad. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity: Founded in 1911 at Howard University, this was the first Divine Nine fraternity founded on an HBCU campus. Read more
